Philosophy and Learning Skills

In order to be successful we all need to be:

Caring
Critical
Collaborative
Creative

Therefore, we use Philosphy for Children (P4C) to enable children to question the world around them and make sense of the society in which we live. This gives us the opportunity to have genuine discussions which are led by the children. This leads to deeper thinking and a school community where all opinions and beliefs are accepted yet challenged.

In order for us to get better at learning we need to learn the skills which help us learn. These are closely linked to our values and are taught by teachers in creative ways such as trying a new thing and learning to sew, showing courtesy while playing card games or using our imagination to design a new Christmas decoration.

We show:

RESPECT by UNDERSTANDING OTHERS

COURTESY by BEING FAIR TO OTHERS

CREATIVITY by IMAGINING

CONFIDENCE by TRYING NEW THINGS

ENGAGEMENT by CONCENTRATING

RESILIENCE by NOT GIVING UP

DETERMINATION by WORKING HARD

AMBITION by PUSHING OURSELVES

PROGRESSION by IMPROVING
