Art, Music, Dance and Drama

Visual art forms part of our curriculum at different points throughout the year. Children explore a range of media through different topics such as line drawings of Victorian buildings around Sheffield and colour mixing to show the chameleon from The Chameleon who Changes Colour.

Children also respond to the works of different artist, in particular during our 'Is it Art?' topic where they visit, study and debate public art in and around Sheffield.

We enjoy exploring the world around us: have you ever noticed the subtle colours in the Holberry cascades in the Peace Gardens? What about the stunninjg geometric ceiling in the City Hall?

Children enjoy the links between IT and music through the CHARANGA music scheme that we use throughout school. Rhythm, song, instruments can be heard throughout school!

Y4 children all have the opportunity to learn to play the cornet. Those showing particular talent or interest have the opportunity to take this further as they move through school.

IT plays a big part in our dance curriculum too! We use iMoves to get moving and grooving to, exploring a range of different dance and music styles.

Usually linked to writing and reading, drama provides opportunities for children to explore different characters and themes within stories.

Children are involved in a range of performances, including our Christmas Spectacular (watch out for news of 'A Christmas Carol', Christmas 2014) and the annual Y6 Shakespeare production.
